Social Determinants of Health

Acronym: SDoH

Refers to the conditions in which people are born, grow, live, work, and age that impact their health. Differences in exposure to the social determinants of health are often at the root of health inequities. These include educational and employment opportunities, access to safe environments, affordable housing, nutritious food, access to care, and social relationships and networks—factors that influence health and occur largely upstream of the traditional health care delivery system.
