Risk Adjustment Suite of Systems

Acronym: RASS

The Risk Adjustment Suite of Systems (RASS) was implemented in 2003 to receive RAPS data from Medicare Advantage Organizations (MAOs) and other submitters and to calculate risk scores. The RASS consists of three main components: the Front-End Risk Adjustment System (FERAS), which receives RAPS data from submitters; the Risk Adjustment Processing System (RAPS), which performs detail editing on RAPS data; and the Risk Adjustment System (RAS), which executes the risk adjustment models and calculates risk scores for each beneficiary using diagnostic data from both encounter data and RAPS data.
