Payment Period

The interval to which the data from the data collection periods applies. In Medicare Advantage risk adjustment, the payment period is either the subsequent calendar year or a subsequent six-month interval; commercial (individual/small-group) risk adjustment uses a payment period that is the same interval as the data collection period (e.g., a calendar year 2015 data collection period determines the relative risk score for the 2015 payment period).
