Original Medicare

Original Medicare is the traditional fee-for-service program offered directly through the federal government. Under Original Medicare, the government pays directly for the health care services delivered to Medicare beneficiaries. Beneficiaries can see any doctor that takes Medicare (and most do) anywhere in the country. Almost all U.S. residents are eligible to receive Original Medicare benefits when they reach the age of 65 or if they are totally disabled before the age of 65.
