Catastrophic Coverage

Once a health plan member’s spending on prescription drugs reaches a certain amount called the Out of Pocket Threshold, they automatically qualify for "catastrophic coverage." Catastrophic coverage means that the member only pay a small coinsurance amount or a copayment for covered drugs for the rest of the year.
